In year 2 our science topic in Everyday Materials. This week we had the task of finding the best material for Captain Cook’s coat. We tested different materials to find the best waterproof material.

Year 2 thoroughly enjoyed a Neil Armstrong workshop. The children learnt about space and Neil Armstrong’s life including his biggest achievement the space mission Apollo 11 and being the first man to step foot on the moon!

In 2CC we celebrated Chinese New Year. We learnt all about the traditions of Chinese New Year and that 2020 is the year of the rat! We enjoyed eating rice using chop sticks! Joshua, Eason & Shangen were great teachers!

The children recorded what they already know about Captain Cooke; wrote questions they want to find out. We also used grid references to locate counties on a world map; created our own explorer stories using the small world; built explorer ships using Lego and in Art we have drawn Captain Cooks ship The Endeavor.
