A message from Ms Slater…

Hi 2CC,

How are you all? I’ve been missing you guys loads!  It is very strange not seeing your smiley faces in person.

I have loved seeing your photos from home – you guys have been so busy!  I have especially loved all the creative things you’ve been up to.  Well done for using your time away from school to explore new and different things.

I’ve been up to some new things too.  My boys and I have started bike riding for our daily exercise.  I couldn’t keep up with the boys to start with, but my fitness is slowly improving.  I need to remember to be a tough tortoise!

I have also tried to cook some different dinners.  I watched Jamie Oliver on TV to help me, he’s a famous chef, and his children help him out too.  We made homemade pasta together which was yummy and surprisingly easy.

Have you been helping out at home much?  I make George and Edward make their own sandwiches for lunch now!

Be sure to watch the video from us with the poster messages. I enjoyed making my poster, the message is something we were working on in class.

Bye for now..
from Ms Slater ?

Good morning 2CC,

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter break at home with your families. I hope you managed to get outside for some exercise and to  enjoy the lovely sunshine. Thank you to those of you who emailed me pictures of the things you got up to. I love seeing these so please keep sending!

As we are now at the start of what would be a new half term I have attached a new home learning grid with activities to be completed over the next two weeks. This was sent home via parent mail last Friday. These activities are to be completed in your  home school learning journal and are linked to the learning which would be happening in school.

I have also attached instructions on how to access the new online Read Write Inc spelling lessons. You are required to log on with a class user name & password. Details are on the grid and attached instructions.

Maths will now be accessed via the White Rose Hub Home learning website.

https://whiterosemaths.com/homelearning/year-2/

On this you will find a lesson for each day. The lesson starts with a flashback activity which we do at the start of our maths lessons in school and then a simple video lesson for you to follow. Worksheets can be either printed or answers written straight into your  home learning journal if you do not have access to a printer. Please start on Summer Term – Week 1.

Please also continue to  go Mathletics, TT Rockstars and Reading Eggspress. Activities are set on a Monday & Wednesday for you  to complete. I am also setting additional challenges on our class blog which can be completed in your  home learning journal.

Over the next couple of weeks myself and Ms Slater will be contacting you all by phone just for a 5 minute ‘catch up’ and to see how you are getting on with your home learning. It will be from a withheld number so please ask an adult to look out for the call!

Your parents will also shortly be receiving a short report, highlighting the progress you have made up to now and some targets for Reading, Writing and Maths.

Please do keep in touch with lots of pictures of your home learning. I am available Monday – Friday  during school hours if you have any questions.

My email address is:

Finally – Stay safe & enjoy precious family time.
